Hi, I’m Verity and I’m a children's photographer, my sessions are more of a play date than a photo shoot. Let’s create some ART together, I’ll capture candid timeless moments of your family in all it’s GLORY..!! Forget forced smiles and paper backdrops, I'll capture something REAL.. let's run around fields, under the great grey sky, hide behind trees, or snuggle at home making dens and reading books. Natural photographs of your children and family are what I live for.

Life is moving so quickly, and rarely do we stop to take in all that we have. To me, there is nothing more meaningful and magical than time with our children.

Why I love taking pictures...

My work feeds my soul, how and why I work is so much more than a job, it's something I love to do, it's part of who I am and I imagine doing forever. Documenting my children and photographing your family, brings me such joy and gives me meaning in my day to day world.

Life is passing so fast, I capture daily moments as a time capsule to remember our life and their changing faces. Our babies grow up so fast, their teeth pop up, fall out, expressions change and our babies turn into children, and children into tweens. The years are whizzing by faster than ever and I want to capture it all in my time capsule..!!

I remember holding my first picture, I fell in love with capturing something that would last and I could hold onto. I've been photographing children for over fifteen years, from starting out in my childhood garden with an old camera and family faces, to working in chaotic studios and obsessively chasing perfection, to finally finding what I truly love, and that is natural light, a connection to nature and capturing the essence of childhood and our relationships. My love of photography comes from an obsession for capturing these fleeting moments, expressions and emotions that we see on their faces, and being able to hold onto these images forever. Keeping all this in a picture is still magical to me, and my children. They already love looking back through photographs of their childhood.

Short & Sweet...

I started Short & Sweet because I wanted to work for myself, I didn't want to follow any rules or restrictions. I wanted to guide myself towards everything I love and how I feel family photography should be, which is natural, playful and REAL..!! 

I used to work for large companies that limited the time I could spend with each client, and edits had to be turned over instantly. These limitations took away the creative process for me, so now my work is aligned with my love of people, photography, and creating the best possible memories of you and your family. Without any restrictions.

I love candid photographs that reflect my children’s personality and our relationship, when photographs capture this.. I am buzzing..!! Capturing these moments is also what happens in my sessions with you, I strive to get something that is so very personal about your child and your relationship with one another.

Your Session…

Your photo shoot: We arrange somewhere to meet, anywhere from your home or your favourite forest. Somewhere beautiful, green and filled with enough space to let the children run wild. I have a few favourite locations of my own up my sleeve. Our session will be relaxed, and I will go at your pace ( or should I say.. we all go at the pace of the little people!! ) 

Whatever your story, I'd love to hear about you and meet your family.

Viewing your photographs: After your session I spend a few days editing your photographs, creating a gallery for you to view online in the comfort of your own home, which you can easily share with friends and family. Your online gallery will be live for 3 months. 

Pricing: Each photo shoot includes edited high resolution digital photographs with full copyright release for complete creative freedom. I work in a transparent way that lets you decide how much you want to spend from the very beginning. There are no expensive extras which you have to pay in exchange for your pictures, whilst tugging at your heart strings during a viewing of your photographs. You can relax knowing that I will give you every single beautiful image I have captured during our time together.

I use only the best cameras, lenses and equipment to capture every detail perfectly and I spend long days editing your photographs. Everything takes huge amounts of time and has taken many painful years of experience and a few artistic meltdowns..!! 

I have an additional price list if you would like me to do the leg work of co-ordinating with the lab and delivering beautiful printed photographs straight to your door. I know how busy family life can be, and sometimes it's easier to simply choose the pictures, and let someone else do the rest..!

Here is my story, my family.. told my favourite way.. in pictures..!!

I wish I photographed my own children more, the years pass so quickly and I never regret taking the time to capture the magic of their childhood.

I have a yearly tradition of doing a photo shoot after the last day of school befoer the summer holidays, these are some of my favourite photos of Wallace, age 6 in his Grandads garden.

On the 10th October 2018, I became a Mother of another beautiful boy.. This is Gabriel River William, the sweetest little bundle I’ve ever held..

This is Wallace age 5, after his first year of school.. and the first day of our long awaited summer holidays!!

Brothers.. The friendship, the love (and the touble) begins..!!

We’ve wanted to keep chickens and ducks for ages, we eat a lot of eggs in this house, pancakes make up 50% of the kids diet!! And now felt like the perfet time, so we have 4 baby chicks and 3 baby ducklings.

The night Wallace lost his first tooth (he had been waiting for this moment a, very, long, time..!!)
